KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. - Mrs. Lola Hullender Begg, 89, of Edel Street passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at her residence.
Mrs. Begg was born in Cleveland County, N.C. on March 24, 1928 a daughter of the late Rev. James Hullender and Lizzie Grigg Hullender. She was employed with Roses in Kings Mountian, Eagle Stores in Gastonia and Mauney Hosiery in Kings Mountain. Mrs. Hullender was a charter member of Midview Baptist Church in Kings Mountain and was a choir member and Sunday School teacher. Since the age of five she loved to sing and sang with several gospel groups including the Hullender Sisters, Eternal Love and the Salvation Messengers.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Begg and a son Reggie Begg.
Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda Philbeck of Kings Mountain; a brother, Rev. Oscar Hullender of Kings Mountain; two sisters Lillian Simpson of Cherryville and Anne Allman of Bessemer City; a special friend who was like a daughter, June Tinsley of Hendersonville; six grandchildren, Joshua Bell, Andrew Bell, Amy Gray, Amanda Murray, Christina Martin, BettyJo Philbeck; 14 great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Midview Baptist Church in Kings Mountain.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Midview Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Rice, Oscar Hullender and David Murray officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
