Library Hosts Screening Of Documentary
The Catawba County Library, 115 W. C St., Newton, NC 28658 will screen Imagine Videos documentary Alices Ordinary People on Tuesday, November 14 at 6 p.m. The film explores five decades of civil rights activism in which ordinary people effected extraordinary change highlighting those of activist, Alice Tregay, a civil and human rights pioneer whose life revolved around social change and community service. She marched with Martin Luther King in Chicago in 1966, and under the leadership of Reverend Jesse Jackson, Alice and her ordinary people effected real change through their activism, including promotion of racial equality through work in voter education and registration, as well as their work through Operation Breadbasket promoting equity in hiring practices. Her contribution is unique in American history, and filmmaker Craig Dudnick will be on hand to share this inspiring story.
