Alternative Energy Sources

To the Editor:

North Carolina citizens are being impacted more and more by climate change, with rising water levels on the coast and destructive hurricanes occurring more frequently and with greater intensity. Climate change is REAL!

But Duke Energy is still planning to build another gas turbine at its Lincoln County plant using fracked gas which impairs the health of our citizens. Fracking pollutes our water and air, releasing methane into the air we breathe poisoning our wells and other water sources. Continuing to depend on dirty, unsustainable fuels like methane and coal will only accelerate climate change.

North Carolina should be a LEADER for the nation in the use of alternative energy sources----solar and wind.

Please URGE Duke Energy to invest our money in sustainable, RENEWABLE energy! And let North Carolina be a positive example!
