More Than

Marty Reep, Author
Speaker, Forward-Thinker

The life you’re living is supposed to be more than just striving to get the next job, promotion, house, car, movie, game, sale, etc., etc., etc.  You were made for more than that.

Part of it is supposed to be about helping others who are in need and showing them that you care.  If you have the means, then you have the responsibility to share what you have with others who don’t.  I’m not talking about political doctrines – I’m talking about decency.

Sharing from the abundance that you have with others who have nothing is the decent thing to do.  It’s the right thing to do.  I challenge you to look around where you are and find a need.  When you do, fill it.  It’s as simple as that.  It could be big or small, but either way, you’re trying to do something to make the world a better place.

Noblot Jewelers - Christmas 2017

You don’t have to try to save the whole world.  Believe me, I tried in the past and failed miserably before realizing that the thing wasn’t my responsibility.  My responsibility is to help people see how they can be better at what they do, to share hope, to share life, and to share laughter – here and in other parts of the world.  What is your responsibility?  Ask, and it will be revealed to you.

When we are each doing what we’re supposed to do, the world will be a better place, because it starts with each one of us becoming better on the inside.  Then, the outside will reflect the good that’s on the inside.

That’s the way it has always worked: the outside reflecting the inside.  The physical realm always reflects the spiritual.  What we don’t see affects what we do see, whether you realize it or not.  And, the intangible controls the tangible: i.e. thoughts into actions, ideas into work, and beliefs into destiny.

Your life is more than just getting up, going to school or work, eating, going back home, eating again, watching TV, and going to sleep.  Your life is to be purpose-filled, full of joy, and exciting.  Sure, there are some days that are just plain boring for some people, but they don’t have to be.

Right now, there are kids going to sleep hungry, not knowing where their next meal is coming from or if they’re going to make it through the week.  What are we doing about it?  What are we doing to make a difference in their lives, their families’ lives, and their communities?

If we know, yet willfully ignore and pretend that it’s not happening, then we are just as guilty as those who caused it to begin with.

Whoa!  You may be thinking that seems like a pretty harsh statement, but once something has been exposed to the light, it’s hard to hide it in the dark, again.

We are to be pipelines, not ponds.  Ponds typically hold water and become stagnant.  But, pipelines flow water through them and stay fresh by distributing its life-changing contents to people all around the world.

Ponds without an outlet eventually stink.  Some even get really big, but without freshness and oxygen from the flow of water moving through it, the fish in the pond die.  Instead, stay healthy by letting the “water” in your life flow through you and out to others.  Your abilities, abundance, gifts, and perspectives all make up your water.

Think about it.  Find something you can do to help this week in your neighborhood, in your community, in your part of the world, and on the other side.

Let your life be the “More Than” it was destined to be.
