Candidates Forums Scheduled

Wayne Howard
Staff Writer

The 2018 Primary Election is now less than two months away. Closer to the election, the Lincoln Herald will provide more information about the candidates.  Our plans include interviews with those who are willing to participate.  You can also learn more about the candidates at Candidates Forums that are already scheduled.

The East Lincoln Betterment Association will present two Candidates Forums prior to the voting period for the May 8th Primary Election. They are scheduled for 6:30 to 9 PM on Wednesday April 11th and Thursday April 12th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 537 NC16-Business North, Denver (Triangle).

Both will be in the form of panels with questions submitted to each of the candidates by a moderator and an opportunity for questions from the audience which will be collected in writing at the events. The April 11th Forum will include candidates for Sheriff, Clerk of Superior Court and Register of Deeds.

The April 12th Forum will include candidates for County Commissioner, State Representative and State Senate.

Both events will be open to the public and admission is free. All registered voters are encouraged to attend.

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will hold a Candidates Forum April 17th at 6 PM at the Lincoln Cultural Center, 403 E. Main Street in Lincolnton.

Early voting will begin April 19th and will continue through Saturday May 5th. CLICK HERE for a list of Early Voting locations and schedules.

All registered voters are eligible to vote in the Primary Election. Democrats may vote in the Democratic primary. Republicans may vote in the Republican primary. Unaffiliated voters may vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary. All voters may vote in the referendum on a proposed quarter-cent local option sales tax.

While the registration deadline for the May 8th primary is April 13th (if you are not registered by that date, you cannot vote on May 8th), you can register and vote at the same time during the Early Voting period.

For more information, contact the Elections Office in the James W. Warren Citizens Center, 115 West Main Street, Lincolnton, NC.  Their phone number is 704-736-8480.
