Kathy Fisher has been making a difference in the lives of her students at Iron Station Elementary School for eight years. Currently, Mrs. Fisher is a Guidance Counselor and loves her school, staff and students that she works with every day. While she acknowledges that building student relationships is one of her favorite parts of her job, she appreciates the flexibility to provide support for her students and their families in a variety of ways.

She explains that “with support and flexibility I am able to use my training and expertise to support students, teachers and families in the best way possible.”

Kathy was born in Louisiana and started school there. As a child she moved around several times due to her dad’s job. After attending school in Tennessee, West Virginia, Tacoma, and North Wales she went to Louisiana State University and received a BS in Journalism Advertising. She continued her education at Texas Woman’s University where she received her MS in Counseling and Development.

Mrs. Fisher says that she couldn’t imagine working anywhere else; that being with the students and staff at Iron Station has been an incredible experience.

Kathy enjoys traveling, cooking, yoga, and spending time in the mountains. She and her husband of thirty-six years relocated to Lincoln County nine years ago. Her four children and three grandchildren live in a variety of places—Austin, Dallas, California, and South Carolina.

Lincoln County Schools appreciates the expertise and services that Guidance Counselors provide students across the district. The daily social and emotional development of our students is important to all of our schools. These services would not be provided if it were not for the great work and programs that Guidance Counselors offer our students.
