Commissioners Talk Money
Lincoln County Commissioners heard a reprise presentation on the budget request of the Lincoln County Schools, learned they're going to have to spend some money on the Shanklin Library, and approved a tax incentive grant for an unnamed company at Monday night's (Feb. 19th) meeting.

He is hailed for his heroic efforts and much bravery under deadly fire. Retired Lt. Col. Harold Brown, one of the last of the famed Tuskegee Airmen and his wife Dr. Martha Bordner will speak about his exploits as a World War II fighter pilot at the Gaston College Dallas Campus. The event is free and open to the public.

LC Schools Kindergarten Registration Begins Feb. 12

The possibility of ice on some roadways has prompted area schools to delay their opening for Tuesday morning.  Earlier announcements of a two-hour delay have since been updated to a three-hour delay for some systems including Lincoln County Schools..

Schools in our area either chose not to operate or closed early because of expected freezing rain on Monday (Jan. 8th) but by mid-afternoon, when schools would have been closing for the day, the icing hadn't occurred.

Schools Close, Streets Closed Because Of Weather
Lincoln County Schools announced they'd be closing for the day at 11 AM Monday as a precaution related to the possibility of some freezing rain in the afternoon, although the forecast appeared to negate the likelihood of that. Lincoln Charter (both campuses) also closed at 1 PM.

The extreme cold weather has caused delays for area schools.  Lincoln County Schools will open two hours late Friday morning.  The same is true for Gaston County, Cleveland County, Catawba County, Newton-Conover and Hickory schools.
