Newton Woman Arrested For Identity Theft

LINCOLNTON, N.C. - On Saturday, April 15, 2017, Donna Dixon Wood, of Newton, N.C., was arrested and served with an outstanding felony warrant for financial identity theft and financial card fraud.
The warrant was the result of an investigation conducted by Lincolnton Police Department Detective Tony Potts. Upon investigating the case, Det. Potts determined that Wood stole a debit or bank card from a known victim and utilized the card illegally in obtaining money while acting as the victim.
Det. Richard Calhoun of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the investigation.
Wood was placed in the Lincoln County Jail and given a $6,000 secured bond. Additionally, Wood was given a first appearance court date in Lincoln County District Court for Monday, April 17, 2017.
Wood has prior convictions for common law forgery, common law uttering, possession of drug paraphernalia, DWI, simple worthless check, misdemeanor child abuse, and intoxicated and disruptive.
