Lincoln County Sheriff's
Office Press Release

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – An Iredell County man wanted on a number of charges including the theft of lottery tickets from two Denver, N.C. convenience stores barricaded himself in building near Crouse on Thursday afternoon.

The U. S. Marshal’s Office working with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office developed information that Marcus Tyler Holloway was spotted near Highway 150 West and Old Lincolnton Crouse Road. The U. S. Marshals tried to stop the vehicle but the suspect struck their patrol cars, ran off the road, and into the porch of a business. Holloway and a female ran into the store and into the basement. The female gave up to the U. S. Marshals but the male hid in the basement under some steps. The Lincoln County SWAT team was called to the location after the suspect barricaded himself in the building. They entered the building through a basement door and Holloway was arrested at that location.

Detectives had been looking for Marcus Tyler Holloway, 32, of Statesville, N.C. in connection with the August 1, 2017 thefts of lottery tickets from Sam’s Mart and the Denver Mart.

On August 2, 2017 Holloway returned to the Denver Mart and deputies pursued the vehicle Holloway was driving but terminated the chase on Business Highway 16 in Denver because of the danger to other motorists on the heavily traveled road. A short time later they found his vehicle abandoned on Glen Crest Drive in Denver. Deputies searched the area on foot but could not locate the driver.

Holloway is also wanted on a number of outstanding warrants from surrounding counties. A female with Holloway today surrendered to officers. She is identified as Hannah Elizabeth Hawkins, 32 of Mooresville, N.C. who is an absconder from probation and is also wanted in Iredell County.
