LINCOLNTON, N.C.––They won it all.

They’re the members of the West Lincoln High School Marching Band, and they recently swept the awards at the Foard Band Classic. According to band director Taylor Brown, his young musicians and their counterparts from North Lincoln High all performed very well, this past Saturday.

“Oct. 28 was a great day for two of our local high school bands,” he said. “The marching bands from West Lincoln and North Lincoln competed at the Fred T. Foard Band Classic, both coming away with grand champion honors: West Lincoln in Class 1A/2A and North Lincoln in Class 3A/4A. West Lincoln also had a clean sweep of their class and Class 1A/2A winning first place in every single award category!

“The 2017 field show for the Marching Rebels is entitled ‘On the Eighth Day,’” Brown added. “This show is a tribute to all farmers everywhere and the hard work that they put in to making our everyday life something special. It is our hope that with our 2017 show, we can honor an occupation that for so many years has been underestimated for its value to our country.”
