NCRIA Awards Grants for Lincolnton, Hickory & Conover
The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority announced grants totaling over $17 million Thursday to support rural economic development projects.  Lincoln & Catawba counties were among locations for which grants were approved.

New Businesses in Lincolnton
New businesses are coming to Lincolnton.  The work is well underway on the Chick-fil-A that will open this Fall near the US321 intersection on E. Main St.  Two pubs and a craft brewery are coming to E. Water St.  A new butcher shop has opened downtown, and now another bar & restaurant is coming in August.

Egg Recall
A recall of eggs possibly contaminated with salmonella bacteria includes some sold at Food Lion and Walmart.  Both companies say all eggs that were part of the recall have now been pulled from shelves and eggs now being sold are considered safe.

The North Carolina Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of a Gaston County man for felony breaking and entering after he was caught stealing a coat from the Belk store in Hickory after having been banned from Belk stores for stealing from a Charlotte store the year before.
