2017 NCHSAA Women's Tennis Dual Team Championships Begin Today
Locally 1A Lincoln Charter obtained a bye in today’s first round action for the 2017 Women’s Tennis Dual-Team Championships. Maiden will play at East Burke in 2A and in 3A Kings Mountain will host A.C. Reynolds.

Friday Night Games Oct. 13th
Lincolnton beat West Lincoln 35-20 although the game was tied with only a couple of minutes left.  East Lincoln remained unbeaten in the South Fork 2A Conference with a 38-7 win over Bandys.  North Lincoln's offense couldn't get going against Maiden as the Blue Devils remained undefeated with a 30-6 win.

The self-described #1 Cubs fan, Bill Ward of Stanley, is hoping for another Cubs appearance in the World Series.  Chicago won their first playoff game over the Nationals 3-0 on Friday, lost the second 6-3 on Saturday--now they go back to the Windy City for games 3 and 4 Monday and Tuesday.

Parks And Rec Offers Fall Day Camp
Schools will be closed for a teacher workday on Oct. 30 so parks and rec is taking advantage of the day to offer your children some fun. The event is open to kids in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Wolves Soccer Team Defeats Blue Devils In Extra Time
Lincolnton coach Eric Radebaugh credited Mason Whitaker with 2-assists, Jeison Rubio with 1-assist and his goalkeeper, Corey Jackson, with several excellent stops.  This victory puts Lincolnton at 4-4 in conference and 9-6 overall.

High School Scoreboard
West Lincoln lost to Maiden in their Homecoming game Friday night...it was just "too many missed opportunities" said Coach Tom Sain.  East Lincoln's defense held Lincolnton to one TD as the Mustangs won.  North Lincoln's offense finally got some help from the defense in securing their second win of the season.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL
Friday night's Maiden at West Lincoln game is Homecoming for the Rebels.  The Homecoming Parade was Wednesday--but Friday morning, the traditional Tractor Parade on the track around the football field began the day's activities. Other games include Lincolnton at East Lincoln and North Lincoln at Lake Norman Charter.

North Carolina schools and MaxPreps, a high school sports website, have designated select football games this month as Gold Games--raising money for research related to childhood cancer.  The Stand Firm Warrior Foundation has added to the scheduled events at North Lincoln.

The Wolves men's soccer team fell to the Bandys Trojans  3-1 at home on Monday, September 18. Lincolnton's only goal was a header made by Mason Whitaker in the first half.

The only Lincoln County team without a victory finally got one Friday night. The East Lincoln Mustangs beat East Gaston for the first win for head coach David Lubowicz. West Lincoln and North Lincoln both lost close games.

The Lincolnton Wolves varsity visits North Gaston this Thursday.  The game was postponed from September 1st because of weather.  Both teams had an open date this week, so it was moved to this Thursday at 7 PM.  Thursday JV games include East Gaston at East Lincoln, West Lincoln at East Burke and Mountain Island Charter at Cherryville.

Friday Night Scores
The REAL Lincolnton Wolves finally showed up--and beat East Gaston easily.  Three first half interceptions were a part of a stellar defensive effort and the offense finally got cranked up in a 51-12 win. West Lincoln came close, but lost the "Battle of Hog Hill" to Foard.  North Lincoln was competitive against Alexander Central, but fell short.  East lost to North Gaston.

Parks And Rec Prepares For Fall
With fall fast approaching, Lincoln County Parks and Recreation is gearing up. The Block Smith Gymnasium will re-open for its fall-winter schedule starting Sept. 25, for walking, pickleball, senior games practice, and volleyball. The East Lincoln Community Center will also resume its normal schedule.
