The Shelby at South Pointe (Rock Hill, SC) game is tops in this week's matchups.  South Fork 2A Conference play begins as Lincolnton travels to Newton-Conover, East Lincoln hosts Lake Norman Charter, North Lincoln plays at West Lincoln and Maiden hosts Bandys.

Going For The Gold
North Carolina schools and MaxPreps, a high school sports website, have designated select football games this month as Gold Games--raising money for research related to childhood cancer.  The Stand Firm Warrior Foundation has added to the scheduled events at North Lincoln.

Wolves Lose To Bandys 3-1 At Home On Monday
The Wolves men's soccer team fell to the Bandys Trojans  3-1 at home on Monday, September 18. Lincolnton's only goal was a header made by Mason Whitaker in the first half.

Apple Festival 5k Started A Day Of Fun In The Sun
Brian Zickefoose was the top finisher overall in the Rotary Apple Festival 5k. Sarah Faith McAllister of Catawba finished tops among female runners and 6th overall.

High School Games September 15th
The only Lincoln County team without a victory finally got one Friday night. The East Lincoln Mustangs beat East Gaston for the first win for head coach David Lubowicz. West Lincoln and North Lincoln both lost close games.

North Gaston won its second game of the year handing the Lincolnton Wolves their third loss Thursday night as the Wildcats dominated in a 49-27 win.

High School Schedule
The Lincolnton Wolves varsity visits North Gaston this Thursday.  The game was postponed from September 1st because of weather.  Both teams had an open date this week, so it was moved to this Thursday at 7 PM.  Thursday JV games include East Gaston at East Lincoln, West Lincoln at East Burke and Mountain Island Charter at Cherryville.

It’s the fourth annual Big Sam Switzer Memorial Car, Truck, SUV and Motorcycle Show is coming up Oct. 7. The event’s proceeds will benefit American Legion Post No. 30 in Lincolnton.

Friday Night Scores
The REAL Lincolnton Wolves finally showed up--and beat East Gaston easily.  Three first half interceptions were a part of a stellar defensive effort and the offense finally got cranked up in a 51-12 win. West Lincoln came close, but lost the "Battle of Hog Hill" to Foard.  North Lincoln was competitive against Alexander Central, but fell short.  East lost to North Gaston.

The Lincoln Country Club held their 2017 Men’s Club Golf Championship over the Labor Day weekend. Tournament Champion was Keith Reeves and runner-up was Russ Russell.

Parks And Rec Prepares For Fall
With fall fast approaching, Lincoln County Parks and Recreation is gearing up. The Block Smith Gymnasium will re-open for its fall-winter schedule starting Sept. 25, for walking, pickleball, senior games practice, and volleyball. The East Lincoln Community Center will also resume its normal schedule.

The best-dressed people at this Friday's West Lincoln at Fred T. Foard football game will be wearing a "Battle of Hog Hill" t-shirt.  The shirts, marking the battle for bragging rights in the community around Vale, Cooksville, etc. will be available Wednesday afternoon at West Lincoln High School.

This week's high school football games got spread out by the weather.  Several teams played Thursday, some on Friday; one game was moved to Saturday and some to Monday--and the Lincolnton at North Gaston game was rescheduled for Sep. 14th.

Weather Postpones Some Games, Delays Others
Flag Day was June 14th.  Friday night was flag night at both the Kings Mountain and East Lincoln at Ashbrook football games.  Weather caused delays at both.  Many games got postponed, some schools played Thursday.  Here's the Friday scoreboard.

West Lincoln won its second game without defeat in downing Cherryville 52-20; North Lincoln led early but ended up losing to Fred T. Foard 40-26; Shelby beat Burns 48-7; Bessemer City improved to 3-0 with a 35-0 win over Chase; and Stuart Cramer beat East Gaston 51-13 in Thursday night football games.

LASA Carolina Fall Classic
The Lincolnton Area Soccer Association participated in the Fall Classic held recently in Spartanburg, S.C. The Titans u13 Boys were crowned the champions at the event having 4 wins and no losses.

High School Scoreboard Aug. 25th
North Lincoln gave new coach Steven Pack a win in his first game with a 47-6 romp over the Carolina Wildcats. Cherryville got a win 22-19 over Chase.  Lincolnton was routed by South Point 59-6. Here are the scores and stories from week 2 of high school football.

The second week of the high school football season has two of the four Lincoln County teams taking the week off.  East and West don't play this week; Lincolnton plays its first home game against South Point; and North Lincoln opens its season at home against the Carolina Wildcats.

It was a tough beginning for Lincolnton and East Lincoln.  The Wolves lost big to Stuart Cramer and the Mustangs fell in a close game to Forestview.  West Lincoln started with a big win.  Cherryville was beaten by Bessemer City and Maiden whipped Foard.  Here's more details of some of the games in week one.
