Friday November 17th Games
The Lincolnton Wolves made a long trip only to lose their second round playoff game to South Columbus.  Shelby and South Point played the game many had expected when they met two weeks ago.  This time, the Golden Lions won the see-saw battle to move on in quest of a fifth consecutive state championship.

Jason Holbrook Honored By LHS
Jason Holbrook had a real passion for the Lincolnton High School football program. The late coach and supporter of the Wolves’ athletic efforts, who died last month, was recognized by the school at a football game last week. Coach Holbrook was known for his love of the Wolves, following them through thick and thin.

Final Results CGA Senior Four-Ball One-Day Tournament At Gaston Country Club
Many area golfers competed in the Carolinas Golf Association event on Monday, November 6.  In Tournament A the team of John Helms of Mt. Holly and Mark Lingerfelt of Denver came in first. Finishing second were the team of Stan Goodson of Lincolnton and David Boaz of Denver.

North Lincoln Captures Third NCHSAA Men's Cross Country Championship
North Lincoln men were led by junior Brian Risse who finished third in the individual meet. In the 1A Men’s  team championship Lincoln Charter  finished in second place behind Bishop McGuinness. The Women’s team from North Lincoln also finished second.

Lincoln Charter (#5) has a Bye for the first round on November 1 in the 1A West Division. In 2A West #1 Newton-Conover will face North Davidson at home, East Lincoln (#17) will visit Lexington Senior and #18 Lincolnton will travel to Hibriten.

Maiden remained undefeated with a win over Newton-Conover as KK McDaniel caught TD passes for the Blue Devils on the last play of the first half and with only seconds left in the game for the win.  East Lincoln did it again--coming from behind to beat West in OT. LHS beat North; Cherryville won.

A trio of county rivalries and a South Fork 2A Conference showdown top this Friday's schedule.  Lincolnton will be at North Lincoln, West Lincoln at East Lincoln, and in Cleveland County--Crest at Burns.  The undefeated Maiden Blue Devils will host Newton-Conover for the top spot in the South Fork 2A Conference.

Lincolnton won its Homecoming game to claim its third in a row; West Lincoln lost to Bandys; North Lincoln was no contest for Newton-Conover; and East Lincoln and Maiden played the game of the week, won by the Blue Devils in double overtime.  Cherryville won its Homecoming game.

Locally 1A Lincoln Charter obtained a bye in today’s first round action for the 2017 Women’s Tennis Dual-Team Championships. Maiden will play at East Burke in 2A and in 3A Kings Mountain will host A.C. Reynolds.

Lincolnton beat West Lincoln 35-20 although the game was tied with only a couple of minutes left.  East Lincoln remained unbeaten in the South Fork 2A Conference with a 38-7 win over Bandys.  North Lincoln's offense couldn't get going against Maiden as the Blue Devils remained undefeated with a 30-6 win.

Wolves Soccer Team Defeats Blue Devils In Extra Time
Lincolnton coach Eric Radebaugh credited Mason Whitaker with 2-assists, Jeison Rubio with 1-assist and his goalkeeper, Corey Jackson, with several excellent stops.  This victory puts Lincolnton at 4-4 in conference and 9-6 overall.
