Press Release

HICKORY, N.C. - Family and corporate teams and individual walkers will gather to take steps for healthier babies on Saturday, April 22 at Hickory Crawdads Stadium, 2500 Clement Blvd., Hickory, NC 28601.

The day’s activities include an opening program at 9:30 a.m. followed at 10 a.m. by a 3-mile walk. Following the walk, participants will enjoy snacks and family-fun activities.

In North Carolina, 1 in 10 babies are born too soon. Premature babies often spend their first weeks or months in the NICU struggling to survive and may have life-long health and developmental consequences.

March for Babies raises money to fund vital research into the causes of premature birth, and to fund community programs aimed at healthier pregnancies.

The Payseur family of Conover, N.C., have been touched firsthand by the mission of the March of Dimes. Ben and Jennifer Payseur’s triplets Eli, Wade and Lizzy were born on November 5, 2015 at 28 weeks. They spent 60 days in the NICU at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Local sponsors include:

  • Presenting, Catawba Valley Medical Center
  • Gold, Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company
  • Silver, Piedmont Natural Gas and Catawba Women’s Center
  • Bronze, BB&T and CommScope

For more than 75 years, moms and babies have benefited from March of Dimes research, education, vaccines, and breakthroughs.
