For many area football fans, something that we've felt should have been the case before now has finally happened: all four Lincoln County Schools high schools will be in the same conference.

No longer will North Lincoln be in a 3A/4A conference requiring fans to travel to Iredell County to support their team.  Unlike last year's schedule, which had six Iredell County opponents, this year North Lincoln will have only three games that won't be played in Lincoln or Catawba counties.

From their old conference, the Knights kept Alexander Central on this year's schedule (at Tayorsville on Sept. 8th).  They also play at Bessemer City (in Gaston County on Sept. 15th) and they have a trip to Huntersville to play Lake Norman Charter on Sept. 29th, but that team is in the South Fork 2A Conference.

North Lincoln has a new coach, Steven Pack, a new league--the South Fork 2A, and things should be looking up for the Knights, who open their season Friday against the Carolina Wildcats from Pickens, S.C., at North Lincoln.

North Lincoln played scrimmage games at the Gaston County Football Jamboree held Friday night (Aug. 11th)at Stuart Cramer High School.  They played a 12-minute quarter against Hunter Huss who scored two touchdowns. The Knights also scrimmaged with North Gaston with the Wildcats winning 21-16. In the opening play Caleb Holley of North Lincoln caught the ball and flew down the sideline for an 89-yard touchdown.
