EAST LINCOLN AT
NEWTON-CONOVER GAME NOTES

East Lincoln’s Mustangs outscored Newton-Conover 37-22 in the first half and cruised in the second to win by a score of 83-50 in the South Fork 2A Conference game Friday night in Newton. The Mustangs had five players in double figures, led by senior Kabian McClendon who had a game high 20 points and also added 6 rebounds, followed by junior Sidney Dollar who had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, junior Allden Horne added 12 points and 5 assists, and senior Coleson Leach and junior John Bean both had 11 points.  Leach added 5 assists and 6 steals, while Bean had 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The Red Devils had three players in double figures, led by freshman Trey Kennedy who had 14 points, followed by senior Noah Smith who had 13 points, while sophomore Jaheim McCathern had 11 points. This was the 10th straight time the Mustangs have defeated the Red Devils dating back to the 2013-2014 season.  East Lincoln currently has a 5-game winning streak and finished the first round of the South Fork 2A conference tied with the Lincolnton Wolves at 6-1 each.

The Lady Mustangs won a close game against the Lady Red Devils 50-47 Friday night. For the Lady Mustangs Destiny Johnson scored 31 points followed by A. Robinette 6, S. Rhoney 5, C. McClain 5, T. Begley 2, B. Tadlock 1. Newton-Conover had two to score in double figures - Chyna Cornwell 21, Ivy Eller 12 followed by J. Peters 7, J. Artis 4, A. Dockery 3. The Lady Mustangs are now 10-6 overall and 5-2 in the conference. Newton-Conover is 7-8 overall and 2-4 in the conference. 

CHERRYVILLE AT
BESSEMER CITY GAME NOTES

The Bessemer City Yellow Jackets beat the Cherryville Ironmen 85-71 Friday night at Bessemer City. Marcus Nelson led the Yellow Jackets with 30 points and Justice Davis had 19. Cherryville was led by sophomore Lane Harrill with 27 points and 10 rebounds, Nathan Jeffers scored 14 points and Matt Cain had 10 points. The Lady Ironmen lost against the Lady Yellow Jackets 66-54.
