Friday May 19th

"Thunder Over Carolina"
The Lincoln Theatre Guild will present the 2017 version of the play "Thunder Over Carolina" at 7 PM Friday, 3 PM and 7 PM Saturday at the Lincoln Cultural Center, 403 E. Main St. in Lincolnton. Admission is $15, $10 for students and senior citizens. While they last, tickets will be available at the door.

Cleveland County Relay for Life
The Cleveland County Relay for Life begins at 4 PM this Friday at  the Cleveland County Fairgrounds, Highway 74-Business east in Shelby.

Spring Carnival

Rock Springs Elementary School in Denver will have a Spring Carnival beginning at 5 PM this Friday.

Music in the Park (Belmont)
Belmont's Friday night concert series will present Coming Up Brass Friday 6 - 10 PM at Stowe Park in downtown Belmont.

Benefit Concert
Lawson Bates will present a benefit concert is to raise money for the Levine Children's Hospital- LCH-11 (Bone Marrow Transplant Unit) this Friday evening at 7 PM at New Vision Ministries, 661 Clark Creek Road in Lincolnton.

14th Annual Power Show 
The two-day Annual Antique Power Show will be held Friday and Saturday at the American Legion Fairgrounds on Highway 64-70. There'll be a lawn mower pull Friday evening, a pedal tractor pull Saturday morning, and a truck and tractor pull Saturday night. There'll be demonstrations of equipment such as threshers, steam engines, shingle mills, grist mills, blacksmithing, and many others throughout the day. Admission is $5, kids under 12--free.

A Night With the Locals (Shelby)
The Don Gibson Theater at 318 S. Washington Street, Shelby, will hold another in its series "A Night With the Locals" this Friday night at 8 PM. This week's artist is Harvest. Admission is just $5. This series of concerts highlighting local talent will continue with concerts next Friday (May 26th) with Amanda Easterling and Saturday (May 27th) with Amanda van Cleef.

Saturday May 20th

Crouse Fire Department Yard Sale
The Ladies Auxiliary of Crouse Fire Department will sponsor a rent-a-spot yard sale Saturday 6:30 AM - 3 PM. You can rent a 10' x 10' space for $10 or two for $15. Sausage biscuits will be available for breakfast and they'll have a hot dog lunch. The event will be at the Crouse Community Building, 2322 Boy Scout Road. For more information call 704-735-2247.

North 321 VFD Yard Sale
The  North 321 VFD located at the intersection of Maiden Highway and US-321 (Exit 28) holds a community yard sale the second Saturday in May and September. Over 100 spots will be available for those who want to sell (please no food sales, that will interfere with the VFD onsite food sales). The Fire Department will be selling  breakfast  biscuits (country ham, liver mush, sausage) and lunch (burgers, hot dogs, and fries) and drinks.

WLMS Get Fit 5k
West Lincoln Middle School will hold its 3rd annual Get Fit 5k beginning at 8 AM this Saturday at the school.

Shady Grove Baptist Church Food Giveaway
Shady Grove Baptist Church at 3240 Tryon Courthouse Road, Cherryville, will host a Mobile Food Pantry Saturday 9:00 AM until 12:00 Noon for families in need in the immediate and surrounding communities of Gaston County. Boxes of food will be distributed first come, first served--one food box per household. For more information call 704-435-9605.

Cat Adoption Event
Lincoln County Animal Control and HATS (Helping Animals To Survive) will have a cat adoption event 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Saturday at the Shoppes at Waterside Crossing, Waterside Crossing Blvd., Denver. Take home a new furry friend for a $20 adoption fee.

Denver Canine Club Adoption Event
Lincoln County Animal Control, the Denver Canine Club and HATS (Helping Animals To Survive) will have a cat adoption event 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM Saturday at Denver Canine Club, 7897 Natalie Commons Drive. Take home a new best friend for a $40 adoption fee.

WoodMill Winery Jubilee & Vineyard Blessing
WoodMill Winery, located just off John Beam Road near Cat Square, will have its Jubilee & Vineyard Blessing event this Saturday 10 - 6 and Sunday 1 - 6.

May Day at Oaklawn
The Coalition of Churches will hold a May Day event at the Oaklawn Community Center, 410 E. Linden St., in Lincolnton Saturday 11 AM - 2 PM.  There'll be train rides, a bouncy house, face painting and games plus food.  

Music in the Park (Denver)
It's the first of this year's Music in the Park events at the Rescue Squad Park, Galway Drive, Denver.  Music will be provided by Buff'ugee Classic Rock and there will be various food trucks and beer and wine for purchase from D9 Brewing Company.  Admission is free.

Benefit Concert (Shelby)
The Don Gibson Theater at 318 S. Washington Street, Shelby, will hold a Nashville Hitmakers Benefit Concert Saturday night at 8 PM. Performing artists will include Even Stevens, Paul Overstreet, Casey Beathard and guitar wizard Mike Loudermilk. All ticket holders will be invited to a private reception after the show in the Don Gibson reception hall, where you can meet the artists and get pictures while enjoying available food and drinks. Tickets for this event to raise money for feeding hungry kids in Cleveland County are $20. For more information call 704-487-8114.
