THURSDAY June 14th

Arts in the Park Meets Network After Work (Mt. Holly)
It's an arts event; it's a business event--it's Arts in the Park and Network After Work and it happens at Tuckaseege Park, 165 Broome St. (off Tuckaseege Road south of Main St. in southwest Mt. Holly) Thursday 4:30 - 8 PM.  The public is invited to this joint event of the Gaston Arts Council (Arts in the Park) and the Montcross Area Chamber of Commerce (Network After Work).  There'll be music from the AOG Band, catering by Billy's Catering Service, and a visual arts presentation.  This event is also sponsored by the city of Mt. Holly and is free to attend and open to the public.

Barrie Howard as Mark Twain

"Wit, Wisdom & Wisecracks" was the name given to Barrie Howard's impersonation of Mark Twain when he performed at the Lincoln County Library a few years ago.  He presented the same program at Denver United Methodist Church.  Now he reprises that performance with his latest rendition this Thursday evening at 6 o'clock at the Jonas Library, 306 W. Main St. in Lincolnton.  Admission is free and the event is sure to be fun for all ages.

Garden & Landscape Diseases & Disorders Workshop at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library (Hickory)
Join Dr. George Place, Catawba County Cooperative Extension Director for a presentation about garden and landscape diseases and disorders at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library Thursday at 6 PM.  Learn how to tell the difference between viral infection, nutrient deficiency, or sun scald damage.  Hear about practices that you can use to avoid pest problems and minimize the need for pesticide applications.  This presentation is part of the Advanced Gardener series designed to help both beginners and advanced gardeners enjoy all of the health, enjoyment, and learning that comes from managing the home landscape and growing some of your own produce.    All presentations in the series are free and open to the public.    For more information, call 828-304-0500 ext. 7235.  Patrick Beaver Memorial Library is located at 375 3rd Street NE on the SALT Block in downtown Hickory.

Full Circle Arts Annual Member Show (Hickory)
Full Circle Arts of Hickory invites the public to a reception for the Annual Member Show Thursday 6:00 - 8:00 PM. The gallery will be highlighting the new works of  Exhibiting and Associate members--40 works on display for art lovers to come see while enjoying an evening of fun, food and drink.  FCA is a non-profit  cooperative located in downtown Hickory, 42-B Third Street NW.  More information about Full Circle Arts, classes, membership, or other upcoming events is available at 828-322-7545.

Catawba Valley Woodcarvers Meeting
The Catawba Valley Woodcarvers Club (CVWC) will have their monthly meeting Thursday 7 - 9 PM at the Klingspor's Woodworking Shop, 856 21st St. Drive SE, Hickory.  The meeting is open to anyone age 14 and above who is interested in woodcarving.  The program for the June  meeting will be a dogwood spoon.

East Lincoln Community Chorus Concerts
The East Lincoln Commuity Chorus will present "Movie Mania," songs from the movies, this Thursday & Friday at 7:30 PM and Saturday afternoon at 3 at Unity Presbyterian Church, 8210 Unity Church Road.

FRIDAY June 15th

Summertime Concerts (Gastonia & Mt. Holly)
In Gastonia, the Summer Concert series at the Rotary Pavilion continues with Blackwater Rhythm & Blues.  In Mt. Holly, the band will be Gary Lowder & Smokin' Hot.  The bands take the stage in both cities at 7 PM; the DJ kicks off the evening at 6.

Conover Alive Concert
The Night Move Band will play this Friday night in Conover.  The concert at Conover City Park is from 7 -11 PM.

"Thunder Over Carolina"
Pete DeGregory directs this production of the tale of the Battle of Ramsour's Mill. First performed during the 1950s when it was written and revived this century, the play will again be presented at the Lincoln Cultural Center, 403 E. Maiin St. in Lincolnton. Performances are scheduled the next two weekends (June 15-17 and June 22-24 at 7 PM Fridays and Saturdays and 3 PM Sunday afternoons.  Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students & seniors. Tickets are available at the Cultural Center (704-732-9055).

SATURDAY June 16th

Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser for Post 455 Baseball (Denver)
A pancake breakfast fundraiser to help support American Legion Post 455 baseball will be held Saturday 8 - 11 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 537 NC16-business north in Denver. Cost is $8 per person, $4 for children under 12.

Music in the Park (Denver)
The Fantastic Shakers will perform for this week's Music in the Park event sponsored by the Denver/Lake Norman Rotary Club.  It happens 6 - 9 PM at the Rescue Squad Park, 7836 Galway Lane in Denver (across from Lincoln Charter School's Denver campus).  Admission is free.
