Max Long Gilleland
April 12, 1932 - November 3, 2017

DENVER, N.C. - Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, Max Long Gilleland, age 85, of Denver passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton.

Born April 21, 1932 in Iredell County, he was the son of the late George Dewey and Zula Troutman Gilleland. Max was a US Navy veteran and was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church in Denver where he served as an Elder and was active in the mission field. He was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 329 and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Gilleland and his sister, Arlene Elliott.

He is survived by his wife Irene Haire Isaac of Lincolnton; two daughters Sally Gilleland and husband Rick Wentz of Denver and Alice Wilson and husband Mike of Catawba; son Chris Gilleland of Catawba; two granddaughters Jessica Gilleland and husband Kenny and Julie Parker and husband Cole; three grandsons Thomas Gilleland and wife Mandy, Andrew Gilleland and wife Anna and Chase Gilleland; great-grandson Max Gilleland; five great-granddaughters Alexis, Logan, Madison, Caelynn and Catherine; and brother Neal Gilleland of Statesville.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Unity Presbyterian Church in Denver with Rev. David Garnett officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday at the church, following the service.
