LINCOLNTON, N.C.––Christian Ministry of Lincoln County is nothing without its volunteers.

That’s how Mitzi Williams put it Tuesday. The executive director of Christian Ministry of Lincoln County, Williams said that with Christmas coming, the organization needs its local church volunteers now more than ever.

“Every month,” she said, “Christian Ministry sends out postcards to the churches and their representatives to notify them a month in advance that their church has pledged to volunteer to pack in our food pantry. We also have a volunteer that calls each church and representative a week prior to their packing date to remind them that they are to pack in our food pantry.

“Our clients depend on us for food each day,” she continued. “The ministry sees about 40 to 50 families a day during the week at our food pantry. The numbers increase significantly during the holiday months. In November, we had four churches that did not show up to pack. This left the last three weeks of November to two of our weekly volunteers to pick up the slack. These volunteers are up in their 90’s! Now that we are in December, we really need for those churches that are scheduled to pack to show up.”

Unable to come and help pack food? Call the ministry as soon as possible, says Williams, and let people know.

“Also,” she said, “if your church information or representatives have changed, we need to have the updated information. Christian Ministry cannot function without its volunteers. They are the backbone of this ministry, and we need all of those pledged commitments to be fulfilled. We need your support in this matter!”

Christian Ministry of Lincoln County is located at 207 S. Poplar St. in Lincolnton. Call (704) 732-0383 or (704) 732-2691 for more details.
