Spirit of King Community Service Jan. 14 In Hickory

HICKORY, N.C. - The annual Spirit of King Community Service will be held on January 14, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Morning Star First Baptist Church, 126 4th Ave SW, Hickory, NC 28602, celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A mass choir made up local choirs will sing led by Min. of Music Zachary Martin of Exodus Missionary Outreach Church.

The speaker for the service will be the Rev. Dr. Clifford A. Jones, senior pastor of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte. Jones has a Bachelor of Science from Maryland State College; a Master of Divinity and Master of Theology from Southeaster Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina; a Doctor of Ministry from Boston School of Theology in Boston, Massachusetts; and has studied at Regents Park College in Oxford, England and Baptist Theological Seminary, in Ruschlikon, Switzerland.

The Spirit of King Award will be given to an individual from the Hickory area who embodies the spirit of Dr. King's legacy of inclusion of people of all races and cultures, making our community a better place to live for all people. A time of fellowship and light refreshments will follow the service.
