What Do I Render?

"Render to God the things that are God's," Mark 12:17 (ESV)

Don't you just hate tax season and all the record keeping that goes with it? I have files and papers lying all over the place while I try to organize what's deductible and what's not. I also despise some of the government's uses of my hard-earned money.

Father, do I have to pay these taxes, even if the government passes unrighteous laws? The words of Jesus rise up in my spirit. Whose image is on the coin? Yes, Lord, I know. Render to Caesar what is Caesar's.

Then I pondered the Lord's next words. Render to God what is God's. It seemed the Holy Spirit asked me, "Whose image are you made in?" Why we are made in the image of God! Then He laid it on my heart, "Never render to Caesar what belongs to God."

My life belongs to You Lord, not to the government. You said the whole world lies in darkness, but when I surrender my life to You, I am transferred into the kingdom of Light. May I still pray that You deliver us from the evils of unrighteous laws? Thank you Father.
