Boger City UMC Community Luncheon, Sunday, October 22 --- A Community Luncheon will be held Sunday, October 22 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Boger City United Methodist Church, 2320 East Main Street, Lincolnton, N.C. 28092 in the Fellowship Hall. Donation of $8 per plate is requested. Dine-in and carry out plates available. Proceeds will benefit the church mission projects. Parking is available behind the church Fellowship Hall. First UMC Hickory Brain Injury Support Group, Tuesday, October 24 --- The Hickory Brain Injury Support Group will meet Tuesday, October 24 at 6 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 311 3rd Ave. NE, Hickory, NC 28601. This meeting will be a social meeting where we will play games and listen to SPOOKY music in anticipation of an upcoming Halloween.  If you have an interesting game (spooky or non-spooky), feel free to bring it.  We will vote or break into groups to choose what we play. Some members will be bringing some side food dishes to eat.  If you would like, feel free to bring something also. St. Mark’s Lutheran, Claremont Friends Of The Library: Night With Radney Foster, Thursday, October 26 --- The Claremont Friends of the Library (Catawba County Library System) is presenting a special night of food, stories, and original live music with Radney Foster on Thursday, October 26 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Family Life Center, 3216 W. Main St, Claremont NC, 28610. Foster will be reading and performing from his latest project, a book and song CD, that is a collection of fictional short stories influenced by his upbringing on the Mexican border in Del Rio, Texas. Take out is available. A $7 donation is suggested to benefit the church building fund.

Exodus Missionary Outreach, Everything Free Event, Saturday, October 28 --- Exodus Homes, a Catawba County United Way agency  and Exodus Missionary Outreach Church will host a special "Everything Free" Community Outreach event on October 28 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Ridgeview Recreation Center, 700 1st St SW in Hickory. This will be a lively event with great music and testimonies of recovery from addiction and incarceration to encourage the community that people can learn a new way to live. The giveaway will include free furniture, clothing, Bibles, haircuts, manicures, and face painting for kids, with hot dogs and drinks for all who attend. ALFA will provide free and confidential HIV testing with immediate test results during the event, and the League of Women Voters will offer voter registration. The Hickory Branch NAACP will be present with opportunities for people to become members or renew their membership. Veterans Helping Veterans will have information about their fellowship and the Stand Down next year. Hospice, and Piedmont Counseling and Development Group will also be with us. The Republican, Democratic, and Libertairian parties have all been invited to send their candidates to inform the crowd about their platforms. Emmanuel Lutheran Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert, Saturday, October 28 --- A Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert hosted by Emmanuel Lutheran Church will be held Saturday, October 28 at 7 p.m. This is a free concert, but we are encouraging people to give generously to the hurricane relief effort. Boger City UMC Fall Craft Fair, Saturday, November 11 --- A Fall Craft Fair, sponsored by the ECA (Extension Community Association) will be held Saturday, November 11 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Boger City United Methodist Church, corner of East Main and Lithia Inn Road in Lincolnton.  Items for sale include crocheted and knitted items; handmade holiday gift crafts, jewelry, soaps, lotions; local pottery and ceramics; handmade wood art and furniture. A handmade quilt auction will be held. And the ECA prize winning Apple Festival Cookbooks will be for sale. Food items can be purchased including breakfast and lunch, coffee and drinks. Crouse UMC Fish Fry & Oyster Stew, Saturday, November 11 --- The world famous Crouse Fish Fry & Oyster Stew supper will be held Saturday, November 11 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Crouse United Methodist Church, 3311 Crouse School Road, Crouse, NC 28033 (GPS ADDRESS).
