Everyone Should Have An Opportunity To Become A Somebody, Not A Nobody!

Being an avid history buff, it is interesting to learn about great men and ladies who throughout their life and actions made our world a better place.

How many of these 12 awesome people can you identify without googling them?

1. A partial deaf boy came home from a school with note from his school officials alleging he was “mentally deficient” and incapable of learning in school. After reading the note, his Mother said “my son can learn. I’ll teach him at home. Her son became an inventor. He was awarded over 1,000 US Patents including his foreign patents for a grant total of 2,323.
2. This “Most Beautiful Woman in Film” actress developed “frequency hopping” a technique for disguising radio transmissions by making the signal jump between different channels in predetermined pattern. This was the precursor to wireless technologies including Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
3. She was the first lady to serve in the US Congress and voted against WWI and WWII participation.
4. She was the first woman Prime Minister in United Kingdom in 1979.
5. This Englishman worked to end slavery and go Parliament to outlaw slave trade in 1833.
6. This US Army General led the D-Day invasion that eventually ended WWII.
7. His novels “1984” and “Animal Farm” warned about the dangers of totalitarian state. Unfortunately, many of his predictions have become a reality.
8. The “Mother of Modern-Day Civil Rights” was arrested for her refusal to relinquish her seat to a white man.
9. This Polish chemist led to development of x-rays. She also discovered polonium and radium.
10. This Polish man helped organize the first non-Communist Trade Union and later became the first President of Poland after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
11. This American was the author of The Declaration of Independence and elected as our third US President.
12. This South African leader was imprisoned for 27 years, ended apartheid laws, unified two racial groups, and created justice for his people. He was elected and served as the first Black President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. In 1994, he received the Nobel Peace Prize for his unflinching dedication to peace and social justice inside and outside South Africa.

What if their Mother’s had chosen to abort them instead? The answers to these questions would be the same: NOBODY! Fortunately, when my twin brother and I were born premature, our parents decided not to abort either of us. We were placed in an incubator for six weeks. Otherwise, we would not be able to achieve what our Heavenly Father predestined for us. Coincidentally, in the hotly contested debate more on restrictions, many agree abortion should be legal at 14 weeks and illegal at 24 weeks of pregnancy (the point when the fetus can survive with medical attention).

As a biological male, I cannot become pregnant. ‘To be or not to be’ a soliloquy in William Shakespeare’s play Hamlet’s has always held a special place in my heart and mind. One of my favorite President Ronald quotes “I’ve noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born.”

When considering abortion, I hope the pregnant mother considers her NOBODY could become a SOMEBODY impacting our world.
