Thursday is Thanksgiving Day. Friday is what is known as Black Friday, what some consider the real start to the Christmas shopping season.  Saturday is Small Business Saturday--created some years ago as an American Express promotionn, a day when shoppers are enouraged to do business with local retailers as much as possible.

The first of the holiday parades were held over the weekend.  Hickory started with its Christmas parade on Friday; Bessemer City had its parade Sunday.  Maiden's Christmas parade will be Saturday afternoon at 3.  Lincolnton will have its Christmas parade this Sunday (Nov. 27th) followed by the Tree Lighting at about 6 PM Sunday.

Other tree lightings are also scheduled for this weekend.  Cherryville will have its tree lighting at the mini-park on E. Main St. Saturday at 6 PM; Stanley will have its tree lighting at 5 PM Sunday; and the East Lincoln Betterment Association will have its Denver tree lighting in front of Lake Norman Lutheran Church (NC 16 business at Natalie Commons Drive) at 5:30.

If you want to be in the Lincolnton Christmas Parade, you need to register by this Tuesday (Nov. 22nd) at  https://www.ci.lincolnton.nc.us/FormCenter/Community-Relations-Special-Events-19/2022-Parade-Entry-Lincolnton-Christmas-P-167.

Government offices will be closed both Thursday and Friday.  The Lincoln County landfill and convenience sites will be closed Thursday, but will reopen Friday.  The Lincoln County library (all locations) will be closed Thursday & Friday, but open regular hours on Saturday.
