The newspaper is now owned by Mark Boyd, who also owns WLON Radio. Ford operates both businesses.
When it was purchased from Jerry Leedy, Ford said the paper wanted to go back to the three days weekly schedule it had for many years--Monday, Wednesday and Friday--but he says they opted to keep it at two days for now, moving publication days to Monday and Thursday instead of Wednesday and Friday. "It obviously costs less to print two papers weekly instead of three," he told us.
The new ownership changed from home delivery by carriers to mailing the newspaper to subscribers. "Gas prices make it difficult to make money delivering papers. That made it difficult to keep carriers and resulted in some people not getting their paper regularly under the former ownership."
This week, the Lincoln Times-News will still be on a Wednesday and Friday schedule. The new Monday and Thursday schedule starts next Monday (March 6th).
