BOYS

A win for Lincolnton, an overtime win for North Lincoln, a come-from-behind win for Lincoln Charter, and a record-setting performance in the East Lincoln game were all a part of Tuesday's boys action.

Lincolnton 71, East Burke 56

The Wolves' game with East Burke was close in the first half.  LHS led 32-26 at halftime after a slow start in the first quarter saw them trailing 17-11; but they outscored the Cavaliers 20-16 in the third period and 19-10 in the fourth to get back on track after three losses in a row over the previous two weeks.

The win improves the team's record to 7-4 in the Catawba Valley Conference, 16-5 overall. That leaves them tied with Bandys & Maiden for third place in the league. The Blue Devils whacked Bunker Hill Tuesday night while the Trojans lost a scoring contest to first place Newton-Conover.

Khalil Yarborough led the Wolves with a season high 18 points; Landen Lyerly achieved a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds and blocked three shots. Tyler McClain scored 10 points, had 4 rebounds and a team high 3 steals.

Lincoln Charter 65, Bradford Prep 60

The Eagles trailed most of the game but pulled out the win to keep their hopes for a Catawba Shores Conference title alive.  They're in third place with a 9-2 league mark, a half-game behind 10-2 Corvian Community and one game back of 10-1 Pine Lake Prep. Behind 28-25 at halftime and 45-41 after three periods, they scored 24 points in the fourth for the victory.

North Lincoln 80, St. Stephens 78 (double OT)

IT took two overtime periods but the Knights won their 16th game of the season and maintained their hold on second place in the Western Foothills Conference at St. Stephens. They're now 16-5 overall, 8-3 in the WFAC. Unbeaten Hickory leads the league (11-0, 21-0) and Statesville is third (7-4, 10-10).

The Knights led 34-22 at halftime, but the Indians poured in 44 second half points to tie the game at 66-all.  Both teams scored six in the first overtime, but North got 8 points in the second OT for a two-point win.

Kellen Karr led with a double-double: 22 points and 11 rebounds--you could call it a triple-double, he also had 10 assists.  Ben Heavner scored 21 points and Ty Sanders had 20.  Tanner Lineberger scored 7; he also had 6 rebounds.  Ty Chandler scored 6; Zane Suttles and Caleb Kidd each had two.

East Lincoln 75, Fred T. Foard 43

Jackson Fannon topped the thousand point career scoring mark with 20 points making him the 11th East Lincoln player to accomplish this feat in school history. He has now scored 1,006 points total, 464 of those this season. He also had 7 rebounds.  Grant Lawless accomplished another double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds; Houston Hartsell scored 12 and Davis Hill 11. LJ Forney and Christian Atkins each scored three points; Hampton Good, Landon Aungst, Kingsley Huntley nd Jamison Frye each had 2; and Jaxon Dollar scored one.

The win gives the Mustangs a 6-5 WFAC record (12-9 overall).

West Caldwell 81, West Lincoln 44

The Warriors had no trouble with the Rebels, building a 42-23 halftime lead and cruising to their 16th win overall and eighth in the conference.  The West boys have only won three times, once in a conference game.

Maiden 74, Bunker Hill 28

The Blue Devils held the Bears to single digit scoring in every period, scoring as many points in the opening quarter as Bunker Hill did for the whole game.  The win keeps Maiden tied with Lincolnton and Bandys (who lost) in the conference standings.

Newton-Conover 92, Bandys 86

The Red Devils, who lead the CVAC with a 10-1 conference record, won at home over the Trojans, dropping them into a third place tie with LHS & Maiden in the standings. West Caldwell holds second place with a record of 8-3 in the league.

East Gaston 73, Cherryville 43

GIRLS

East Lincoln 69, Fred T. Foard 39

Their 11th WFAC win without a loss gives East thier third consecutive conference title.  Kiara Anderson had 25 points, 7 rebounds, four assists and two steals; Emma Montanari had a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals, and she blocked a shot.  Abbie Hege scored 8 points; Nevaeh Atkins, Taniyah Thomas and Lane Pethel each had 6; and Maddie Matz scored 3.

The win was East's 20th of the season; they've lost only once in a non-conference game to Hibriten before Christmas.

St. Stephens 57, North Lincoln 52

It was a close game but St. Stephens held on for the win. The loss makes North 13-8 overall, 5-6 in the WFAC.

Lincoln Charter 60, Bradford Prep 20
