Lincoln County Senior Games Start April 13

Registration is March 1-28


LINCOLNTON––Registration for the Lincoln County Senior Games is just around the corner.

According to spokeswoman Missy Calloway of Lincoln County Parks and Recreation, the registration period is March 1-28. Opening day of the games is April 13 at the East Lincoln Community Center in Denver.

As Calloway explained, the games are for Lincoln County residents 50 years of age and older. A kick-off ceremony and information session will be held at the Lincoln County Senior Center, March 1 at 5 p.m.

And on behalf of parks and rec, Calloway extended congratulations to all the local medalists in the recent North Carolina Senior Games.

“We are so proud of all our participants in this year’s state senior games!” she said. “They definitely represented Lincoln County well.”

Medalists included Tim and Robin Heafner for the football and softball throw and basketball shoot; Steve Herman for the football and softball throw; John and Kip Olivas, Chris and Terry Sanford, Glenda Carter and Ann Faulkner for bowling; Lee Howard and Michael Johnson for cycling; Mark Shanklin for long-jumping; Wes Singleton, Mariella Cook and Tim Hepler for running; Donita Davis, Debra Putnam and Carol Ann Black for cheerleading; Raymond Brietz for swimming; Shirley Baker and Cynthia Miller for quilting and weaving; Dennice Herman for cornhole; Erma Deen Hoyle for needlework; and Cheryl Landsburgh for pastels and drawing.
