Lincolnton boys 67, West Lincoln 51

West kept it close through the first half; leading by a single point at the end of the first period 14-13 and trailing by one 25-24 at the half.  The Wolves scored 22 in the third and 20 in the fourth for a 67-51 win, giving them a regular season record of 18-6,  9-5 in the Catawba Valley Conference.  West finished with a 3-21 overall record, 1-13 in the league. 

Tyler McClain started the night off hot making four 3-pointers in the first half; he finishied with 16 pts and 6 rebounds. Khalil Yarbrough had a big second half, scoring 15 of his 17 in the 3rd and 4th quarters; he also had 8 rebounds. Landen Lyerly finished with 15 points and 8 rebounds;  Khamoni Heath scored 9; Sabur Mannsur 4; Cam Smith, Gaige Ikard and Andrew Phelps had two each.  

Mikalister Anderson scored 22 points for the Rebels; Landen Darty had 8, Jaden Guynn 7, Gideon Allen 6, Evan Hartsoe 4, and Ty Butler and Caleb Brooks 2 apiece.

The LHS boys will host Bunker Hill in the first round of the CVAC Conference Tournament on Monday (Feb. 19th).  West Lincoln will play at Newton-Conover.


West Lincoln girls 55, Lincolnton 53

The West Lincoln girls won a close game over Lincolnton 55-53. The Rebels led 30-25 at the half and maintained a five-point advantage through the third period; but LHS closed with with a dozen points to West's 9 in the fourth quarter.

Carolina Robinson had a double-double, scoring 28 points with a dozen rebounds; she blocked 9 shots and had two assists and a steal.  Zoey Owenby scored 14 points, had four rebounds and three assists; and while Quinln Avery didn't score, she had 11 rebounds, two assist and two steals.  Calla Varner had 8 points and six rebounds; Laura Willis scored three points; and Kaitlyn Carpenter had two.  

Nyla Johnson led Lincolnton with 28 points; Curmiya Tillman had 10; Camellia Holland 7; Justice Smith 5; Vanessa Cespedes two; and Daphca Dyson one.  

In Monday's first round of the CVAC Tournament, the West girls will play at home against Newton-Conover.  The LHS girls will play at Maiden. Both those games will start at 6 PM.


Maiden boys 75, Newton-Conover 69

Raheim Misher scored 19 points and had 15 rebounds, and his double-double helped the Blue Devils to their 13th victory of the season.  Lincoln Frasure scored a dozen points; Tae Maze had 10; Parker Pait & Landon Teague each scored eight.  Zion White had 5, Gerald Danner 4, and Cross Arias 3.  The win gives Maiden a 9-5 conference mark.  They'll open CVAC play at home Monday night against Bandys.

Maiden girls 51, Newton-Conover 27

The win gives Maiden second place among the girls teams in the CVAC.  They'll host Lincolnton at 6 PM Monday.  The boys game (vs Bandys) will follow that game. 


Bandys girls 71, Bunker Hill 36

The one-sided game will be reprised Monday evening (Feb. 19th).  The Bandys girls finished third in the regular season standings and will host the Bunker Hill girls in the first round.


Bunker Hill boys 89, Bandys 84 

The Trojans' loss means they finished in fifth place. They'll play at Maiden on Monday.  


The CVAC Tournament will shift to Catawba Valley Tech on  Wednesday & Thursday (Feb. 21st and Feb. 22nd).  The higher seeded girls will play at 6 PM Wednesday followed by the higher seeded boys.   Thursday, the lower seeds will follow the same schedule. Friday (Feb. 23rd) the championship games will be played: the girls at 6:30 and the boys immediately following awards for the girls.


East Lincoln girls 78, North Lincoln 46

The East girls won their 23rd game, finishing the regular season 23-1 and first place in the Western Foothills Conference 14-0.  

Kiara Anderson had 25 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and four steals; Emma Montanari scored 15 points, had 8 rebunds, 3 assists, a steal, and blocked a shot.  Lane Pethel had a double-double with 15 pints and 14 rebounds, plus an assist; Taniyah Thomas scored 15, had 5 rebounds, 5 steals, and four assists.  Nevaeh Atkins had 6 points and Abbie Hege 2.

For North, Hailey Hagler scored 12 points; Ally Smith 10; Addison Grice & Ashlyn Black 7 each; Madi Black 5, Brooke Custer 3 and Anna Holder 2.

The East girls will host West Iredell in round one of the conference tournament Monday at 6 PM.  The North girls will visit St. Stephens at 6 PM Monday.


North Lincoln boys 70, East Lincoln 54

The Knights didn't score more than 80 points--as they have in a majority of their games this season, but they held the Mustangs to 54 to claim their 19th win, finishing the regular season with a record of 11-3 in the Western Foothills Conference, second only to unbeaten Hickory.


Leading by a single point 30-29 at halftime, North outscored East 27-7 in the third period.  The win means the Knights will  host Fred T. Foard in the first round of the WFAC Tournament Monday at 6 PM. 


St. Stephens girls 54, Fred T. Foard 41

St. Stephens boys 82, Fred T. Foard 72

The Foard girls will play at Hickory Monday at 6 PM.


The second round of the WFAC Tournament will play at Hickory High School.  If East Lincoln's girls win, they'll play at 6 PM Wednesday.  The winners from the lower seeded teams play on Thursday.  The boys games will follow the girls (at about 7:30) each of those evenings.  The championship games will be played at Hickory High on Friday Feb. 23rd.


Lincoln Charter finished the regular season with easy wins over Mtn. Island Charter by both the girls and boys teams.

Lincoln Charter girls 60, Mtn. Island Charter 8

The LCS girls finished the regular season with a 12-2 Catawba Shores Conference record, in second place behind Community School of Davidson.


Lincoln Charter boys 83, Mtn. Island Charter 68 

David Reed IV had 24 points for the Eagles; Kelan Flowers scored 23; Khristan Flowers 13; Cairo Morales & McKennon Showers 9 each; Ethan Blank 3 and Kasey Hudson 2.  The win put Lincoln Charter's boys in a three-way tie with Corvian Community & Pine Lake Prep for tops in the Catawba Shores Conference.
