What did she see...

     1942 to 2024...

She remembers cars without bumpers...

WWII war effort needed the metal...

Seeing many cars with flat tires...

     That seemed normal back then...

Little girls wore dresses to school...

Little girls wore dresses to Sunday School...

Little boys climbed trees...

Little boys played cowboys and Indians...

Children wore cowboy suits...

     Suits came with holsters...

Holsters with hand guns...

Families often ate Sunday dinner...

     Dinner with Grandparents...

Meals that were special...

     With people who were special...

This was considered normal...

     Family stories shared...

Rooms filled with laughter...

Shopping at the farmer's market...

     Family members sitting together...

Together shelling butter beans and peas...

     Laughter filled the screened porch...

More family stories shared...

She remembers the first TV that arrived...

     Arrived at her house...

She was 11 years old...

     It was a small picture...

Black and white picture...

     Three channels...

She has watched from black and white...

Black and white to every color...

Lots a rules...

      To no rules...

There seems to be no limit...

     No limit in 2024...

1942 few country homes had phones...

She saw party lines as a child...

Took years to get phone lines to homes...

She remembers laying on the floor holding...

Holding the phone at the end...

The end of the short phone cord...

     Everyone heard every word...

Phone with in the middle of the house...

She saw CB radios...

     Then came big portable phones...

Then came smaller phones...

     Cell phones...

Now little cell phones that are computers...

Computers were huge at first...

Now cell phones in your hand...

Small but powerful...

Today child will not remember paying...

Paying for long distance calls...

She watched cars change...

     Styles changed every year...

First gas and diesel...

     Hybrid to electric...

Many years of changes...

     Roads have really changed...

There were no interstate roads in 1942...

She remembers paying $36 for food...

Food to feed her family of 4...

They ate well for $36 a week...

     Salaries were smaller...

Prices were smaller...

What do you remember changing...

     Changing most in your years...

What would your grandparents say...

Say if they came back today...

What would shock them most...

A lot has changed in 82 years...

     Some things never change...

Important things...

     Being honest...

Truth and respect...

     Love and kindness...

These are always needed...

     Needed in a good life...
