Well, close enough: a 9.925 was Sierra Church’s score for her balance beam work at a recent gymnastics meet––the highest beam score of the event.

And who is the talented Miss Church? A member of the class of 2023 at West Lincoln High School, she’s also a freshman now at Clemson University, where she is a star stand-out on its first-ever gymnastics team.

As proud mom Wendy Church explained Tuesday, her remarkable daughter is this year a beam specialist for the Tigers.

“She has competed in four of the past seven meets and has done two exhibitions,” Mrs. Church informed. “She is the anchor of the team. Each week, her beam scores have improved.”

Yes, it’s onward and upward for Miss Church. It was on Feb. 23, in front of a sold-out crowd at Clemson’s Littlejohn Coliseum, that she earned that 9.925 score, as Mrs. Church revealed.

“Yesterday (Feb. 26),” she added, “she received the ACC Gymnastics Newcomer of the Week recognition for her performance.”

Mrs. Church extolled Clemson for its phenomenal support of its athletes. She continued that she and her family are all extremely pleased by the prowess of her daughter in the demanding world of collegiate gymnastics. She invited the public to see this talented athlete perform with the Clemson Gymnastics team at its last home meet of the season on March 8 at 7 p.m. at Littlejohn Coliseum.

“We’re very proud of Sierra,” said Mrs. Church. “She is very humble. She absolutely loves her coaches and teammates. And she’s the sweetest girl!”
