CONOVER, N.C. - Carolyn Ann Self, 67, of Conover passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Atrium Health Lincoln.

She was born December 20, 1956 in Lincoln County to the late Earl Hoover Self and Mary Lucille Reinhardt. Carol was of Christian faith, worked and retired from Kohls, the ABC store, managed Thornburg Realty, and The Elks Lodge. She loved taking cruises to the Caribbean, going on trips to Myrtle Beach, and watching Hallmark. Carol loved spending time with her friends, family, and her French Bulldog Lucy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Charlie “Kinsey” Self and Larry Self; sisters Elaine Self, Sylvia Self, and Sheila Self.

Those left to cherish her memory is her son Mark Self and wife Shenine of Statesville; sister Brenda McCurry and husband Dallas “Goober” of Bostic; grandson Xavier Hands; granddaughter Payton Turvey; nieces Brandi Crump and Nicole Self; and nephew Larry Dewayne Self.

Carol will be missed and loved by many other great-nieces, great-nephews and Lucy, her Frenchie.

A memorial service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 12 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. Apostle Glenda L. McCorkle will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11:45 a.m. at Bennett Funeral Service.
