Martha Harwell Hollar

January 15, 1946 – April 26, 2024


CLAREMONT, N.C. - Martha Harwell Hollar, 78, of Claremont, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Conover Nursing and Rehab.

She was born January 15, 1946 in Catawba County to the late Gaither and Macy Little Harwell. Martha retired from Regency Home Fashions after 28 years of service as a payroll and insurance administrator. She enjoyed camping, taking trips to the beach, and working in her garden. Martha looked forward to going shopping, going to restaurants, and loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Eddy Gaither Harwell and Larry Richard Harwell; and step-daughter, Julie Ingle Smith.

Those left to cherish her memory is her husband of 35 years Donald L. Hollar Sr. of the home; daughters  Machelle Edwards and husband Ashley of Claremont, Carmen Bolick of Hudson, Tracy Colson and husband Chuck of Weddington; stepson Donnie Hollar of Mountain View; sisters-in-law Shirley Harwell of Claremont, Patsy Harwell of Catawba; niece Karen Ingle of Claremont; nephews John Harwell of Conover, Brian Harwell of Claremont, Leighton Harwell of Claremont; two great-nieces; three great-nephews; grandchildren Kyle Edwards (Kisha), Kristin Tackett (Thomas), Bailey Colson, Macy Colson, Gracie Hass (Noah), Justin Hollar,  Jesse Hollar, Colby Colson, and Amber Colson (Cory); and great-grandchildren Kolton Edwards, Kylie Edwards, Ace Tackett, Briar Tackett, Sage Campbell, and Lily Campbell.

A service to celebrate Martha’s life was held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. Mr. Kyle Smith officiated. Burial followed at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Claremont. The family received friends prior to the service from 10-10:45 a.m. at Bennett Funeral Service. Those serving as pallbearers were Kyle Edwards, Bailey Colson, Thomas Tackett, Leighton Harwell, Kolton Edwards, and Brian Harwell.
