When you hear her sing, you may just want to stand up and cheer. She’s Lenoir-Rhyne University cheerleader Bailey Beam. And this talented Lincolnton girl will be among the singers competing in this weekend’s annual Heafner-Williams Vocal Competition.

Each year, singers come to Lincolnton from far and wide. They come from Europe. They come from Africa, as in fact several are this year. They all come from around the world to compete in the annual Heafner-Williams Vocal Competition.

Get ready for some matchless music and sensational singing coming up in March at the Lincoln Cultural Center. Feb. 22 is the last date for competitors to submit their audio samples into the vocal competition.

Breakfast With Santa Held
Children from the area started their holiday season off recently by joining Santa for breakfast at the Lincoln Cultural Center. This was the sixth year for this annual event.

The Arts Council of Lincoln County was pleased to be working with the Lincoln County Schools again this year to find children in need of bikes.

Lincolnton held its 60th annual Christmas Parade Sunday afternoon.
LCHA Presents Program On Slavery
The Lincoln County Historical Association will present a program on slavery, "The Lives of Enslaved African-Americans" Saturday (Nov. 24th) 10 AM - 4 PM at the Historic Ramsour's Mill Battleground Park, 301 Jeb Seagle Road in Lincolnton.

Admitttedly it wasn't the largest crowd in Apple Festival history. The postponement from September cut the attendance, but all went well and those who attended enjoyed the Festival as much as ever.

Apple Queen Looks Forward To A Year Of Service
Destiny Shaelyn Self, the 40th Lincoln County Apple Queen, hopes to accomplish many great things and to continue the great legacy of the 39 queens before her. Her hope is to leave a lasting impression on her county and to inspire children to live their lives to the fullest.

Former Lincoln County resident Linda Heavner Gerald’s new novel is a hit on Amazon. For many years, Gerald used to live in Cat Square, and she now resides in Florida. One of her books was recently recognized by the annual Florida Authors and Publishers Association President’s Book Awards.
Cheers To 40 Years
Destiny Shaelyn Self, a rising senior at West Lincoln High School, was crowned the 40th Miss Lincoln County Apple Queen Saturday, August 11 at the James W. Warren Citizens Center. Destiny is the daughter of Shane and Heather Willis.
