Value Of Doing Good

Marty Reep, Author
Speaker, Forward-Thinker

There is still value in doing good. In spite of what some people may say, doing the right thing at the right time has a definite place in the world. Every time you help someone in need, it establishes another layer of connectedness between you and the other person. It strengthens the bonds that we feel on an unseen level and solidifies the belief of goodness in humans.

At times, that belief seems to waiver or even teeter on the brink of failure, but every time we step up and step in, that belief is restored. There is value in doing good.

So, how to make it work? When what you believe on the inside meets up with the good work that you can perform as an individual, you have a winning combination. That’s the sort of winning combination that can get you into closed meetings, into the hearts of enemies, and into the minds of people who trust you.

By showing that you can deliver the goods by doing good things for other people, selflessly, you also prove that you are mature enough to see the world from a greater perspective. And when you do that, everybody wins.

If you believe in heaven, then doing good can have a meaningful connection between the examples you’ve seen and what you feel directed to replicate. If you don’t believe in heaven, there is still an unseen feeling that compels you to do good – almost in a contractual way, if you will. There’s something in each of us that thinks, “I would want somebody to do that for me, if I needed help…so, I’ll do it for them.”

Is it easy for people to put that into words when they’re in the middle of the situation? Not always. Is that compelling feeling quantifiable? Again, not always. But, just because you may have to work at describing it, doesn’t negate that it’s real. If you’re feeling a desire to help somebody, then it’s as real as it needs to be.

Ethics define part of who we are as people. Doing good shows that we have beneficial ethics and demonstrates the positive side of our moral codes. Holding back goodness from others serves no one. On the other hand, giving relentlessly provides the energy and blessing that people are looking for in a tangible way.

Besides, you can’t out-give the universe. Meaning, whenever you give, it creates a vacuum in your life. But, that goodness you just gave will get replenished from places and Sources you would never imagine. It will be restored to you, multiplied, and increased in ways and quantities far greater than you could have created on your own. I’ve seen it happen time after time, after time.

If you still don’t believe me, then do something good for somebody else this week. Then, watch how that person is impacted, how you are impacted, and how it is multiplied back to you. It’s amazing.

Have a great week!
