7/8/2019 6:24:00 PM Worley Makes First Court Appearance

He entered the Lincoln County Courthouse head bowed and didn't respond as several reporters attempted to ask him questions. In the courtroom, his attorney, David Teddy waived a preliminary hearing on the charges, asking that it be sent directly to Superior Court. The judge agreed.
Bond for Worley, set by the magistrate last week, was unchanged, and he remains free on $47,000 bond until the case comes to trial. Given that Lincoln County has a record of such cases taking months to make it to Superior Court and that police say their investigation is still ongoing, that's not likely any time soon.
Police say they have identified two alleged 'victims.' One of the two young men, a former student, now an adult, brought the case to the attention of school administrators on June 21st and that's when the investigation began. Worley faces charges including two counts of Felony Indecent Liberties with a Student, five counts of Felony Sexual Activity with a Student, two counts of Felony Solicitation of Sex with a Student and two Counts of Misdemeanor Solicitation for Indecent Liberties with a minor.
Having turned in his licenses, Worley is no longer able to teach or work in any administrative position in any North Carolina school. He is also forbidden to be on any Lincoln County Schools property or to have any contact with any of those deemed possible alleged victims.
