Mother, Son Killed In South Carolina
Daniel Wyatt is still hospitalized and will take some time to recover from his injuries.  Now he is also faced with planning the funerals of his wife and son.  A GoFundMe page has been created to help the financial part of his situation.  If you would like to contribute, visit https://www.gofundme.com/f/daniel-wyatt?utm_source=customer&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link-tip.

The Wyatts were traveling in two cars: Daniel and Emily and sons Dylan and Hunter had been to Myrtle Beach and were on their way home Tuesday.  One of the cars had a flat tire, so they stopped in the median on US 76 east of Florence to change it.

US 76 at that location is a lot like US 321 in Lincoln County--a divided highway with a grassy median.

Just after 12:30 PM, another westbound vehicle, a Chevy Tahoe, changed lanes and struck a Honda Civic.  The impact caused the Civic to cross the median, become airborne and overturn into a ditch on the eastbound side of the road.

The Tahoe  then plowed into one of the Wyatt party's vehicles, a Nissan Maxima, in the median.  That vehicle was pushed forward and pinned Emily and husband Daniel against the other of their vehicles.  Emily and Dylan were killed.  Daniel suffered severe injuries.  He had surgery on Wednesday and is expected to survive.

A total of ten people were taken by five ambulances to two different Florence area hospitals as a result of the crash. It closed the highway for over two hours.

Emily had just begun a new job with Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region. A registered nurse, she had previously worked with Kindred at Home. Dylan was a 2019 graduate of West Lincoln High School. Hunter, who was less seriously injured, graduated this year.
