Free Summer Learning Programs Available June & July

Lincoln County Public Library
Press Release

LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Numerous studies indicate that students who don’t read or read infrequently during their summer break see their reading abilities stagnate or decline.

To help prevent summer learning loss, the Lincoln County Public Library is offering free Summer Learning programs during June and July that focus on literacy, science, technology, art and a variety of other subjects. In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing, the library will be celebrating with special events centered on the theme “A Universe of Stories.”

The annual kick-off event will take place on Tuesday, June 11, 6-8 p.m. at the James W. Warren Citizens Center in Lincolnton. This Blastoff to Summer Learning will feature games, music from a live DJ and light refreshments.

Registration for Summer Learning is super easy through the library’s website and offers fun games, puzzles, and a way to track your reading time. For each minute read and/or program attended, participants will earn points they can redeem for chances to win awesome prizes!

If you don’t have time to visit the library in person, children can still check out e-books from home through the NCKids Digital Library for free using their library card or their Lincoln County Public Schools Student ID number. Adults also have plenty of e-book options including the NC Digital Library, RB Digital, and Freading apps available through the library’s website.
