Wayne Shuford Johnson
October 28, 1946 - March 19, 2020

LINCOLNTON - Wayne Shuford Johnson, age 73, of Lee Lawing Road in Lincolnton, died on Thursday, March 19, 2020.

A private graveside service will be held in Iron Station Cemetery. Wayne’s body will lie-in-state at Warlick Funeral Home on Sunday, March 22, 2020, from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. for those who wish to pay their respects; however, the family will not be present (due to the state mandate on the COVID-19 virus).

Wayne was born October 28, 1946, in Lincoln County, to the late James Elliott Johnson and Norma Rhyne Johnson. He worked as a training instructor for Duke Energy.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Green Johnson of the home; two sons, Jeff Johnson (Lori) of Lincolnton, and Brian Johnson (Molly) from Gardnerville, Nev.; a daughter, Jennifer J. Heavner (Noah Damon) of Lincolnton; a brother, Tommy Johnson (Frances) of Charlotte; a sister, Ann Ballard (Stan) of Lincolnton; special aunt, Wilhelmina Ledford of Lincolnton; one grandson, Kelly Johnson; three granddaughters, Ana Johnson, Makayla Johnson, and Sarah Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Kaia Grace Kahoiwai.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pearl Baptist Church Building Fund, 4657 Highway 27, Iron Station, NC 28080.

Warlick Funeral Home of Lincolnton, N.C. is serving the Johnson family.
