LINCOLNTON––Christian Ministry of Lincoln County Executive Director Mitzi Williams is thanking the group’s supporters.
With Thanksgiving and giving thanks both in mind, Williams shared a poem with us, extolling the efforts of the ministry’s many volunteers:
“Dedicated hearts like yours
Are not so easy to find.
It takes a special person to be
So generous and so kind.
To care so much for your fellow man
Is a quality all too rare.
Yet you give of your time and talents
For all in need to share.
So thank you for being a volunteer!
We’re privileged to work with you.
Please know just how very grateful we are,
Both today and the whole year through.”
Williams also cited the words of St. Paul, as found in his First Epistle to the Thessalonians, Chapter Three, verse nine. The Apostle’s message pertains to the new Christian converts at Thessaloniki. But his words could just as easily apply to volunteers and their spirit of charity:
“For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God!”
“As we stop to celebrate Thanksgiving,” said Williams, “we want to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting Christian Ministry by volunteering your time, by giving your financial support and by keeping the ministry in your prayers.”
She also turned to another Pauline text, this time citing the Apostle’s Epistle to the Hebrews, Chapter Six, verse 10:
“For God is not so unjust as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for His sake in serving the saints, as you still do.”
