The Long March will be on display at the Main Library of the Gaston County Public Library, 1555 East Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28054 on the third floor, beginning January 15 and will run through February 28. There will be a special opening reception and brief presentation from Jason Luker, Director of the Gaston County Museum of Art and History, on Saturday, January 12 at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium at the Main Library. The Civil Rights Movement was one of Herblocks chief concerns. He illustrated the history and dialogue of this turbulent era in American society. The Long March is one of five exhibits that display the work of legendary Washington Post editorial cartoonist Herbert L. Block, famously known as Herblock. Produced by The Herb Block Foundation, the goal of these exhibitions is to present Herblocks effort to preserve Americans rights and freedoms through his political cartoons.
