Charles Summey Chapman
May 6, 1934 - December 3, 2018

MAIDEN, N.C. - Charles Summey Chapman, age 84, of Maiden passed away Monday, December 3, 2018 at Carolina Caring (formerly Catawba Regional Hospice) of Sherrills Ford.

Born May 6, 1934 in Gaston County, he was the son of the late George “Walt” Walter Chapman and Timmie Adaline Scronce Chapman. He served many years at Marvin United Methodist Church as a lay speaker, Sunday school teacher, and served wherever needed at the church. In addition to his parents, brother-in-law, Robert Hall preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years Mickie Mitchum Chapman of the home; daughter Ceil Matthews and husband Larry of Durham; son Clay Chapman of Sherrills Ford; grandson Joseph Matthews of Durham; brother Donald Chapman and wife Naomi of Lincolnton; sister Barbara Hall of Iron Station; niece Sarah Hall; two nephews Mark and Michael Chapman; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday December 16, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Marvin United Methodist Church with Rev. Amy R. Vaughan officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
