Olin Licurtis Bass
October 19, 1925 - December 3, 2018

MAIDEN, N.C. - Olin Licurtis Bass, 93, of Maiden passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at his daughter’s residence.

He was born October 19, 1925 in Mecklenburg County to the late Oscar and Ollie White Bass. Olin was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church in Newton and retired from Carolina Mills in Newton. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with friends and family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Jean Yeargin; wife, Carrie Fox Bass; sisters, Pearl Brooks, Nell Crump, Betty Townsend; brothers, David Bass and Raymond Bass.

Those left to cherish his memory are son Lee Bass of Benson, N.C.; daughter Elaine Sigmon and husband Don of Maiden; grandchildren Chantae McDowell, Kristen Whisenant, Brandon Sigmon, Aaron Sigmon, Telika Wilson and Bonnie Bass; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A service to celebrate Olin’s life will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Eastside Baptist Church in Newton. Rev. Don H. Sigmon will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Huntersville Baptist Church at a later date. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at Eastside Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 725 E 11th St., Newton, NC 28658.
