Louie Wilburn Huffman
June 18, 1929 - January 9, 2019

NEWTON, N.C. - Louie “Wilburn” Huffman, 89, of Newton passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton.

Born June 18, 1929 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Preston “EP” Huffman Sr. and Carrie Walker Huffman. Wilburn was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was a US Army veteran and served in Korea.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Doris Rogers Huffman of the home; daughter Sandy Nagy and husband Rick of Stanley; granddaughter Summer Nagy of Stanley, currently stationed in Japan; two grandsons Scott Medlin and wife Lauren of Lincolnton and Ricky Nagy of Charlotte; and sister Janey Whitener of Hickory.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 12 noon at Trinity Baptist Church in Newton with Rev. Brant Hoots officiating.

Private burial will be held at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the church, prior to the service.
