LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Billy Joe Caldwell, age 88, of 146 Williams Street in Lincolnton, died on Thursday, February 18, 2021.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021, in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Ernie Richard officiating.
Mr. Caldwell was born July 28, 1932, in Lincoln County, to the late James Monroe Caldwell and Jennie Johnson Caldwell. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Caldwell, and numerous brothers and sisters. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, then later worked as a field engineer for Goodyear.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Self Caldwell of the home; daughters, Monica Pendleton (Danny) of Crouse, Sharon Huss (Terry) of Concord, and Tiffany Chambers of Lincolnton; two stepsons, Roger Glenn Self (Diane), and Monty Self (Melanie), all of Dallas, NC; sister, Jennie Sue Carpenter of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gainsville Baptist Church, 270 Gainesville Church Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
