Kenneth Gaither Sigmon
October 1, 1937 - June 17, 2022

DENVER, N.C. - Fulfilling the promise of our Heavenly Father, Mr. Kenneth Gaither Sigmon went home to eternal peace and rest June 17, 2022 surrounded by loving family.

Born October 1, 1937 to the late Gaither and Katie McIntosh Sigmon, he was the oldest in a family of five children, all lifelong residents of Denver, Lincoln County.

At the young age of 17, Mr. Sigmon joined the U.S. Marine Corps, proudly serving in Japan and rising to the rank of Sergeant. Upon returning home, he married Jerue Anne Julian, and soon the family was blessed with a daughter Andrea and two sons, Kenny and Timothy. Mr. Sigmon began work at McCall Brothers Well Company, where he remained until his retirement in 2018.

To those who knew him, Mr. Sigmon was a tower of strength, a man of unwavering and unquestionable high moral character, generous and true to his word. A child of the Depression, he watched his parents face numerous challenges. Drawing knowledge from their struggles, he was resourceful in finding ways to make life easier for his own family. Life centered around church and hard work, but there was always time for enjoyment. Many weekends were spent together at local dirt tracks, where the entire extended family watched the young sons learn the sport- a legacy that endures to this day.

Mr. Sigmon was predeceased by daughter Andrea; and brother Dean.

Survivors include wife Anne; sons Kenny (Kim) and Tim (Sheila Saunders); brothers Bob (Sarah), G.B, and sister Judy (J.W.); eight grandchildren Jessica (Bundy), T.J., Dillon (Brooke), Kisha (Brian), Matt (Krista), Donnie, Ginger, Brittany (Matt); 10 great-grandchildren; special loved ones India Bauer and Greigh Lucas; and beloved companions Scottie and Harley.

Services will include visitation from 1-2 p.m. and the funeral at 2 p.m. on Tuesday June 21 at Salem United Methodist Church in Denver. Mr. Sigmon will be interred at the Salem Church Cemetery. A brief honorary military salute in his honor will conclude the services at graveside.

“Semper Fi. Sgt. Sigmon… Semper Fi…”

The family is extremely grateful to Visiting Angels and to the Lincoln County Hospice Angels for their kindness, love and compassion.

Anyone wishing to make a donation may do so at Novant Hospice, PO Box 33549, Charlotte, N.C. 28233

E.F. Drum Funeral Home of Lincolnton, N.C. is serving the Sigmon family.
