CHERRYVILLE, N.C. - Mr. Tommy Richard Stroupe Sr., 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia surrounded by his family.
Tommy was born on October 5, 1951 in Lincoln County, a son of the late Lawrence W. Stroupe and Edna Greene Stroupe. He was retired as a regional manager for Interstate Brands of Charlotte. Tommy also worked a chief financial officer in his sons company, TRS Consulting in Reston, Va. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cherryville. Tommy was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was stationed during that time at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Stroupe; and a sister, Linda Hastings.
Survivors include his son, Tommy Richard Stroupe Jr. and wife Christina DiPalo Stroupe of Leesburg, Va.; a sister, Patsy Randall of Cherryville; three grandchildren, Tommy Richard Stroupe III, Audrey Elizabeth Stroupe and Olivia Jean Stroupe; a sister-in-law, Barbara Stroupe of Lincolnton; a brother-in-law, Jerry Hastings of Cherryville and a special friend Sheila Mims of Mt. Holly.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church in Cherryville with Dr. Bill Lowe officiating.
Burial will follow in Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery with military honors.
