LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Johnny Wayne Ballenger Sr., age 88, of Lincolnton, died on Sunday, July 31, 2022.
His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Laboratory United Methodist Church with Rev. Amy Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:45 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Ballenger was born June 21, 1934, in Lincoln County, to the late James and Annie Reep Ballenger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Ross Ballenger; two brothers; and three sisters.
He is survived by a son, Johnny Ballenger Jr. (Cindy Travis) of Hickory; daughter, Lori Ballenger Johannessen (Jeff) of Lincolnton; brother, Jerry Ballenger (Ida) of Lincolnton; sister, Rachel Mafera (Bill) of Mass.; three grandchildren, Samantha Tawfik (Islam), Nicholas Johannessen, and Sydney Blanco (Kevin); and two great-granddaughters, Noura Tawfik and Hanan Tawfik.
