Today in History in 1558 Elizabeth I, age 42, ascends English throne upon death of her half-sister "Bloody" Mary; in 1800 Congress held 1st session in Washington D.C. in uncompleted Capitol building; and in 1855 David Livingstone becomes the first European to see Victoria Falls in what is now Zambia and Zimbabwe.

  • 1968 - "Heidi Game", NBC cuts to show "Heidi" and misses Raider's rally to beat Jets, 43-32
  • 1973 - US President Richard Nixon tells AP "...people have got to know whether or not their president is a crook. Well, I'm not a crook"
  • 1990 - David Crosby breaks his left leg, ankle and shoulder in a motorcycle accident in Los Angles, California
